It’s been 40 years since we’ve had this discussion at a federal level. Barney Frank (D-Mass) & Ron Paul (R-Texas) have introduced a bill that will eliminate the federal penalties for possession of marijuana. As one of CNN’s reporter’s put it, “Frank & Paul will have trouble pushing it through congress, and finally the president”. The name of the bill is “Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2011″

NORML has of course setup a page for you to email your congressman/woman. I suggest we all do so. The only way the laws will change is to let your voice be heard. Share it everywhere you can.

As everyone knows, prohibition does not work. We’ve been saying it for years. Now mexican drug cartels are thanking the US Government for making it illegal!  In one of the quotes from the article ‘El Chapo’ says he’d buy the man dinner whoever came up with the war on drugs.

To me the DEA, NDCP, DOJ should all feel ashamed of themselves. There’s one of the biggest players in the illegal drug trade, pointing and laughing at your stupid little ‘War on Drugs’.

For the readers, if you had the power, how would you go about convincing congress, and the senate that the war is over? What would be your first step? Please leave your comments and your suggestions.

Come on Hickory Middle School get a grip on reality here. The kids didnt have a controlled substance, they had something that looked similar. Whynot look into why you’re #42 on the list of ranked Virginia Schools. Are we going to start tossing kids out of school now for everything? Whynot the kids who wear the pants around their asses? What about the kids who goto school to sell real drugs. Dr. Jean Infantino I think you need to sit back, and take a long hard look at your previous years probably in college, where you most likely smoked pot.

Apparently the Attorney-General and his staff, have added a few new plants to the prohibited list. From what I gather these are rather common plants. I’m glad I dont do shrubbery.

Wow! I remember hearing about the dispensaries being closed, but I had no idea they were limiting the total number of stores to 100. Interesting enough, they are going to hold some sort of lottery. I wonder if Walgreens, CVS, or Eckerd have to go through anything like that when opening a new store.

Stumbled across this interview with Bill Maher and Brad Pitt they talk about different things, but the thing that stands out the most is that Brad admitted to smoking marijuana, and rolling the most perfect joints that Bill Maher has ever seen, really great interview, Go Brad!

Now the only thing I don’t like about the Colbert Show is that whenever I see something on it, Colbert jokes it, which I know it’s his thing, and I love him for it! In fact I loved how he approached the idea of marijuana in his questioning, does he smoke? Will we ever know? Interesting idea, celebrities that are Ok with marijuana, stay tuned.

A LEAP spokesman said “Nothing which is illegal can be controlled.” to the Billings Gazette. A very true statement.

Al Capone profited heavily in the alcohol prohibition. By making something illegal, you’ll already have someone wanting to profit off of it. If you were to make Pepsi illegal, someone would be selling them, and tripling, or quadrupling the price. Thus creating a black market, thus leading to violence. Could you imagine being a victim of a drive-by shooting over some Pepsi? When the US government doesn’t know how to deal with a problem, they make a law, thus filling up our prison system with non-violent offenders. Which cost the American Taxpayers about $22,000 a year per inmate.

So President Obama is heading to Mexico, how much do you want to bet, Mexico will in some way ask for drug policy reform to help battle the ever growing drug cartels war on each other, and the military. I don’t think that Obama is ready to make that call. I’m sure he’s awaiting more reporting from the new Drug Czar. The current drug policy of search and destroy isn’t working.
