Wow! I’ve seen this before, but it totally blows my mind how much this man is in the drug war. He’s right that the wrong people are making the money off marijuana. It makes me think back to those PSA ads that said buying marijuana put guns in the hands of terrorists. People who oppose the legalization are putting the guns in terrorists hands, not us. Its going to happen people, marijuana will be legal, you just wait and see. .. Oh and watch this video too!
Judge Jim Gray on The Six Groups Who Benefit From Drug Prohibition
Yea well put Mr. Johnson. 850,000 people arressted and mostly only on possession. In Virginia, each prisoner costs the tax payer $21,000. marijuana is easier to obtain than cigarettes or alcohol.
So the subcommittee on crime is meeting. I’ve tried to find a feed on it without any luck. As far as I know they started at 3pm EST. And Delegate Morgan had quite a few bills ahead of him. Once I know something, I’ll let you know.
I love the information this site has, and it displays some of them to you in a comic which are done rather well, and extend the main point, SHUT UP, and be cool.
Holy crap! 5.3m plants were destroyed @ a value of $2,000, just in California. California is at rock bottom with their economy, the Govenor of the state calls for ‘debate’ yet no one still does anything.
marijuana
The newcomers to the business are typically restricting their practices to fields of around 80 plants – that’s tiny compared to the mega cultivation seen in California where 5.3m plants were destroyed last year up from 4.9m in 2007. But at around $2,000 a plant, that still provides a good living in Appalachia.
By the way I did the math, and it’s over 10b. That’s huge! and that was in 2007. Imagine what it is now. All that money going to waste into a system that’s failing us, and killing us slowly everyday. As drug usage goes up, so will the need for funds to combat it. SOMETHING ILLEGAL CANNOT BE CONTROLLED.
Stumbled across this interview with Bill Maher and Brad Pitt they talk about different things, but the thing that stands out the most is that Brad admitted to smoking marijuana, and rolling the most perfect joints that Bill Maher has ever seen, really great interview, Go Brad!
##Update##
This isn’t the original video I made this post with, but HBO of course claimed the last one as their property, and youtube took it down, so I did another search, and found it again
Now the only thing I dont like about the Colbert Show is that whenever I see something on it, Colbert jokes it, which I know it’s his thing, and I love him for it! Infact I loved how he approached the idea of marijuana in his questioning, does he smoke? Will we ever know? Interesting idea, celebrities that are Ok with marijuana, stay tuned.
A LEAP spokesman said “Nothing which is illegal can be controlled.” to the Billings Gazette. A very true statement.
drug czar
Al Capone profited heavily in the alcohol prohibition. By making something illegal, you’ll already have someone wanting to profit off of it. If you were to make Pepsi illegal, someone would be selling them, and tripling, or quadrupling the price. Thus creating a black market, thus leading to violence. Could you imagine being a victim of a drive-by shooting over some Pepsi? When the US government doesn’t know how to deal with a problem, they make a law, thus filling up our prison system with non-violent offenders. Which cost the American Taxpayers about $22,000 a year per inmate.
So President Obama is heading to Mexico, how much do you want to bet, Mexico will in some way ask for drug policy reform to help battle the ever growing drug cartels war on each other, and the military. I don’t think that Obama is ready to make that call. I’m sure he’s awaiting more reporting from the new Drug Czar. The current drug policy of search and destroy isn’t working.
So interesting thing happened to me at the DMV a few days ago, I found out my license was expired, I didnt even realize it. So I go to DMV, get in line behind one of the local police officers in my area. He glanced at me, and nodded as to say hello. So we’re waiting in the long DMV like and started talking, I asked him how he felt about James Webb and wanting to go over our drug policy. He felt that its bad either way we go. For instance, alot of businesses, clinics, and such need that revenue to stay open. He feels if they legalize drugs that it would hurt us financially before it would help us. He also went on to say that he’s seen more hurt, and death from Alcohol, than all the other drugs combined. When will our goverment listen to it’s ‘law keepers’ drug policy is not working, we need to rethink our strategy. The fact of the matter is, there’s too much money to be made while drugs are illegal.
